Finding proper materials is the first step of construction requiring research, and the requisite of research is concentration of energies and efforts in a studied and targeted manner. Since its inception, Construction Materials Institute (CMI) has shown that can step into this way impressively.
CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL LABORATORY
Cooperation between Construction Materials Laboratory of University of Tehran and CMI has led to provide a wide range of testing services on concrete and other construction materials (cement, aggregate, admixture, and bar) in accordance with international standards. Possessing expertly trained personal and modern equipments are the main features of this laboratory.
Through professional experts as well as testing equipments with the most advanced technology, CMI has attended in some stages of the construction process of concrete dams like evaluation of construction material (aggregate, cement, admixture, etc) and taking part in Technical Review Committee (TRC). Some of these major dams are Karun-3, Karun-4, Seimare, and Jave dams.
CONCRETE MIX DESIGN
One of the main capabilities of CMI is submission of mix design for different types of concrete such as self consolidating concrete (SSC), roller compacted concrete (RCC), fiber reinforced concrete (FRC), ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) and integrally colored concrete.
ASSESSMENT AND REPAIR
Based on technical knowledge and qualified experts, CMI performs numerous projects on damage assessment and repair of reinforced concrete structures specially in Persian Gulf region like C1 and C5 jetties in Shahid Bahonar port, Kaveh jetty in Qeshm island, and Shayan hotel in Kish island. The evaluation process includes visual inspection, non-destructive testing, and partially-destructive testing.
QUALITY CONTROL AND QUALITY ASSURANCE
CMI has extensive experience and expertise within the area of quality control and quality assurance in execution of concrete structures. This process consists of four phases: study of the material sources, determining of the mix proportions considering conditions and requirements of the project, establishment of the quality control system, and identifying the problems and proper solutions.
