CMI provides both field inspection and laboratory analysis of all construction materials for commercial, private, and public organizations, and a wide variety of research projects for enhancing the construction industry.

Construction Materials Institute (CMI) at the University of Tehran was established in 2001 in cooperation with the Construction Materials Laboratory which has been working for more than 50 years in the field of material science and technology. It is an important element in education, science and innovation in IRAN.

It specializes in the field of construction materials, research and development and provides high-level services in the field of durable concrete science and technology. Its major fields are innovative collaboration with industry and public institutions and knowledge propagation. The main purpose was to start an academic research program on the application of new construction materials with focus on concrete technology in Iran.

Regarding its experienced faculty and talented research assistants, CMI has carried out many important research and technical projects within last years. CMI employee made lots of scientific contributions to national and international conferences and scientific symposia. Members of CMI received many awards in international concrete competitions.

Core Topics

CMI focuses on the following three core topics:

1- Research on durability of concrete, steel corrosion monitoring and high performance concrete in marine environments.

2- Evaluation of products, processes and systems for the capital and consumer goods markets in the field of concrete technology.

3- Measurement and analytical methods, modeling with computational and experimental verification.

Scope of Services

The services which CMI provides are:

1- Consultancy services, whereby the customer is advised and supported, or expert opinions are provided.
2- Investigative services, whereby research commissions, damage investigations, examinations by measurement procedure or materials testing and analysis are carried out.
